Meeting With Austin Area Players
Plans for Upcoming Seasons Revealed

On Monday January 28th  Aztex President Phil Rawlins and the Aztex staff met with a group of Austin area players to get acquainted and spell out future plans for the Azrtex in Austin.  Of particular interest was the new club’s relationship with Stoke City FC.  Rawlins gave a presentation with graphics and spelled out the player opportunities that exists with the Aztex alliances.   He also stressed plans to forge an alliance with a professional club in Mexico.

Speaking of  the upcoming Aztex tryouts,  Rawlins stressed that the club is looking for the best players available.  "It is a clean piece of paper, " said Rawlins," no one has the inside track.  We have no preconceived notions of who will be on the team.  We are looking for the best talent we can find, and everyone has an equal chance."

Rawlins also discussed stadium choices, saying that the club is looking for the best match of the team and season with a stadium. He said the U23 season and the Aztex First Division professional season may be played in separate stadiums to accomodate the specific needs of those teams.  "We probably don’t want to put the U23 in a 20,000 seat stadium," he said.  He explained that the club will be looking for the best stadium match for each season in order to maximize the crowd experience at the events. Rawlins explained that the organization is in contract negotiations that will soon result in an announcement of stadium choice. "Believe me, it will be for the entire season," he added.

The Aztex also revealed at the meeting that the organization has received over 30 applications for Head Coach of  the team and almost 20 applications for Assistant Coach.
